Residential GFCI Service Upgrades
WIRED Electrical Contractors specializes in keeping your family safe and comfortable, and our residential services include installation and repair of GFCI / GFI outlets. Designed to safeguard your home’s electrical system, GFCI outlets prevent electrocution and shock while ensuring electrical code compliance.
What is a GFCI Outlet?
A “ground fault” occurs when electricity takes an unexpected shortcut through water, a person, or into the ground. Ground faults account for the majority of home electrocutions, so ground-fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs or GFIs) are essential. National Electrical Code requires GFCIs for new bathrooms, kitchens, unfinished basements, exterior receptacles, wetbar sinks, laundry room sinks, and other areas of your home.
GFCIs monitor the electrical current flowing through a particular circuit. If they detect even a tiny surge of electricity beyond the norm, this is a red flag for the GFCI. In a fraction of a second, the GFCI interrupts the circuit and shuts down the power to prevent shock or injury.
Hire WIRED FOR GFCI Retrofit, Installation & Repair
WIRED Electrical Contractors can retrofit your home with GFCIs, install GFIs in new residential construction, or repair your GFCI when it fails to work properly. After a decade or so, your GFCI may wear out and require reinstallation. If the test and reset buttons on your ground-fault interrupter fail to work or you are unsure that it is functioning properly, have a master electrician troubleshoot the outlet.
Don’t attempt to troubleshoot GFCI or GFI outlets yourself, since your electrical system can be very dangerous. WIRED Electrical will provide a full evaluation of your residential system and make surge protection recommendations that are affordable and reliable.
